SITUATION

Akademikerne is the umbrella organisation for 28 professional unions, representing more than 500,000 academics in the public and private sectors. Alongside collective bargaining, Akademikerne provides analyses, consultation responses and policy input on employment, education, research and business to political decision-makers.

This input spans many formats and subject areas, and each deliverable needs to be both well-founded and ready when the decision-makers need it. The ambition was to build a shared rhythm for delivery times, quality and resource allocation across this production.

RESULTS

Through a thorough analysis of the production process, we developed a set of standard products covering around 80% of total production. Each standard product was paired with a production plan describing the steps, roles and time needed from request to delivery.​

This gave Akademikerne's deliverables a reliable level of quality and a predictable pace, with shorter delivery times and fewer reprioritisations. It also made more room for in-depth professional work and cross-disciplinary collaboration. With production plans in place for most of the work, managers gained a solid basis for allocating resources and looking ahead.

DELIVERABLES

BY ERROR analysed the production process from start to finish and designed the standard products and production plans together with Akademikerne's managers and a core team of key employees. We defined shared tools for planning and steering the work, along with KPIs to follow quality and performance over time.

The implementation focused on the core team, giving the new ways of working a strong foothold in the organisation. Managers were trained to lead the change and anchor the new processes, systems and tools in everyday work, giving the organisation a common foundation to build on.
